Fourth NOVIMAR General Assembly held in Karlsruhe
The fourth General Assembly (GA) took place on 23 May 2019 and was hosted by Marlo. The most important result is the decision from the GA to continue with the project. Having all needed information presented, the General Assembly unanimously decided to proceed with the project.

Inland waterway passage scenario Vessel Train discussed
On 9 April 2019 representatives of Rijkswaterstaat (Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management), Province North-Holland and NOVIMAR discussed the scenario of a vessel train making a passage on the Maxima Channel from the Dutch town Veghel to the river Maas. In this scenario the vessel train passes several bridges and the Empel lock.

The new project coordinator of NOVIMAR, Danitsja van Heusden – van Winden, discussed the project during a live streaming interview initiated by the Scheepsvaartkrant at the Maritime Industry fair 2019 in Gorinchem, The Netherlands. Seven partners of the project also presented themselves during the fair.

'Deltares’ role in NOVIMAR is to define
a water depth chart using CoVadem data for determining the vessel train’s optimal route. We gain new insights in the behaviour of waterways and how to combine different data sources. This helps us in developing smart tools for inland shipping sector and society.'
