In a recent interview in De Volkskrant, Pieter ter Keurs, professor of Museums, Collections and Society at Leiden University, urges for great care in debates surrounding colonial collections. The history behind each object should be researched first, as many objects where acquired through non-coercive transactions.

Christine Kousa
We are happy to welcome Christine Kousa as our newest affiliated researcher. She is a PhD Candidate at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, Delft University of Technology and KAAD scholar. Her PhD research is focusing on architectural and urban conservation of Aleppo's old city. She is a research assistant at the Detmold School of Architecture and Interior Architecture, OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Germany) since 2018.

Katarzyna J. Cwiertka 
Professor of Modern Japan Studies at Leiden University dr. Katarzyna Cwiertka is a renowned Japan and food scholar. She tackles her topics both as a domain of culture and as a window into historical inquiry that extends beyond the realm of cuisine and nutrition. In her research, food serves as a vehicle to talk about social change and global interconnectedness facilitated by colonialism, war, and cultural imperialism.

Asma Mehan
Asma Mehan is the current Postdoc fellow at the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus program for Port City Futures and the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology, Leiden University. Dr. Mehan’s main interests include planning history and theory and transnational politics of architecture.

Science Diplomacy Fund for Turko-Dutch project on livable cities
The Netherlands Institute in Turkey has been awarded a Science and Diplomacy grant the NWO's newest grant for the project Cultural Heritage Technologies for Sustainable Cities. This project, under supervision of dr. Fokke Gerritsen seeks to create more livable cities and build an international academic network through cultural heritage research. The Centre for Global Heritage and Development is co-applicant.

Idea Generator grant for sustainable urban planning videogame 
Ana Pereira Roders, professor of Heritage and Values at Delft University of Technology, is among the awardees of the NWO's Idea Generator grant. Her project "EquiCity: Digital serious gaming for participatory city planning and management" project seeks to create a game that trains players to support decision making processes in urban planning and management through solving multi-criteria and multi-actor spatial decision- making problems.
